Once, by the good graces of the fates, you had sailed the waves in each other’s  company. Now a vast and empty ocean lies before you, its silence echoing.

Whatever your situations, circumstance dictates that it is impossible for you to write or  speak to each other directly. You will follow the course of your life or your afterlife,  never quite knowing if the other is there, or how they might feel…

Beyond the Horizon, Beneath the Waves is a play-by-post game about still loving someone who has become inaccessible to  you, someone beyond your reach. One player is a naval captain, the other their cherished companion lost at sea. You will write letters that the other character may never see, but that will inform your epilogues in compelling, and often heartbreaking, ways.

It is a hack of Beyond Reach by Annie Johnston-Glick and was written for the Rolling Waves jam.

Content notices: death, grief, ghosts, the sea.

The ocean painting used as a cover image is Ivan Aivazovsky's "Sailing Ship in the Moonlight on a Calm Sea" (1874).

I reallly really really really like this. It's like a nested form of several things that I like simple and sweet enough to be meaningful. Thank you for sharing this!
